Trololol Tempest Rush 2hander Monk Build Diablo 3 Patch 1.0.4

A fun build exploring the options you can have with the changes to 2handers. This build makes use of tempest rush with tailwind to fly through the map mowing down anything that gets in your way.

Link to the build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aZcgTQ!bcd!aYZaaZ

Key points for this build:

You must have a weapon with high spirit per second and make use of all the skills with spirit per second. Just ignore normal mobs and breeze by them, only stopping to kill elites. Use serenity and seven sided strike liberally as your defenses are quite low since this build requires taking spirit passives over defensive passives. I could only get this to work in Act 1 because Act 2+ mobs just hit too hard, but I imagine with better gear this build could be used very effectively in Act 2+ to just blaze around looking for all the elites.

Guild Wars 2 Efficient Leveling Guide

The purpose of this guide is to introduce you to some tips and strategies on the best ways to maximize your leveling efficiency in Guild Wars 2. I would recommend not feeling pressured to try to level as quickly as possible. Remember this is a game that’s supposed to be enjoyed. There’s no sense stressing out about “maximum efficiency.” But, with that said, if you follow these little tips and strategies they can greatly enhance the speed at which you level just as you play through the game normally.

Quick Breakdown of Leveling Plan:

  1. Immediately upon game release enter WvW and do as many dynamic events as possible to capture keeps and gain the exp, gold, and karma from completing these dyanmic events.
  2. When the WvW objectives have been taken go back to the starter zone. Find a merchant and purchase(and equip! don’t forget to equip) gathering tools. There are three, axe, pickaxe, and scythe.
  3. Travel around to all of the hearts(golden unfilled hearts) on the map to complete the heart quests.
  4. Gather any crafting materials you come across on the way to the hearts.
  5. Participate in all dynamic events(orange circles on your map) that you come across.
  6. Use salvage kits to break down all armor and weapons that you don’t need.
  7. Regularly send materials back to your bank to keep your bags empty(there is an option on the upper right hand corner of your inventory screen to do this, amazing feature!)
  8. On your trips back to town use up your gold and karma to purchase materials and craft food and whatever other crafting skill you choose to take(we recommend taking the armor skill appropriate for your class, as they will allow you to make extra bags)
  9. Purchase “boost” gems if you feel so inclined. These can give you +50% exp per hour.

Crafting

1-400 Cooking guide, doing this can gain you roughly 40 levels in Guild Wars 2: http://www.thehealthygamer.com/2012/09/02/guild-wars-2-cooking-guide-1-400/

If you’re used to other MMO’s(WoW, SWTOR, DAOC, etc.) then you’d naturally assume that crafting is something that should wait until 80 to do so as to not slow down your leveling process. Not so in Guild Wars 2. Gathering crafting materials and crafting items both give you experience that count toward your character’s level. Not just a little experience. LOADS of experience. Infact it is very possible to level all the way to 80 doing nothing but gathering and crafting if you were so inclined.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crafting

A more in-depth overview of the crafting system. In my discussion with Psychopoweranger and Mattvisual we determined that if you want to level the fastest, then taking cooking as one of your crafting skills(you can have two active at a time) was the best option, because food gives you a 10% improved experience gain buff and the materials to craft food can be bought with coins and karma(another form of currency you get for completing quests).

Questing(hearts) and Dynamic Events

If you don’t know what to do, hit your map(M) and look for un-filled golden hearts. These hearts are the location of NPCs which will give you various tasks that once you complete will give you exp, gold, and karma. The other reason to visit these hearts is that dynamic events(orange events) occur regularly around heart quest givers. Orange dynamic events are also wonderful for giving you exp, gold, and karma. Think the dynamic quest system from RIFT or Warhammer Online.

If you have to choose between doing a dynamic event or a heart, always do the dynamic event.

Exp Boosts

I had no idea what boosts or gems were or that they even existed until the conversation with Matt and Luke. Here’s the breakdown:

You can purchase “gems” which are a form of in game currency for real life money. The exchange rate is 80 gems per $1 US. You can then use these gems to purchase different in game items. Here is a full list: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store

Within the Gem Store are what are called “boosts”. These are consumable buffs you can buy that will give you different … boosts. For 150 gems(or $1.875) you can increase your experience gained by 50% for an hour, your karma gained by 50% for an hour, or the rate at which you find magic items by 50% for an hour.

So for those really wanting to reach the top the fastest then these boosts are a must. For everyone else, they might be fun to play with and pop when you find yourself in really great groups.

And I just want to add that the gem store system is not a “pay to win” system but more of a “pay to save time” system. If paying $50 or $100 in gems can save me 40 to 80 hours in leveling time to get to 80 then that is WELL worth it. For me. But then again my whole business revolves around video games so it’ll be up to you to make that determination on whether boost gems are worth it to you.

If you still don’t know what class to pick check out the Guild Wars 2 professions page here. That link contains video overviews and PvP videos of all the classes except the ranger.

GW2 Borlis Pass Server Council

Full credit to this idea goes to Youtuber Kaeyi Dream. The BPSC is something that will be run by myself, Psychopoweranger, and Matt Visual.

What is the Borlis Pass Server Council?

It is a guild that will contain the guild leaders and officers of all the guilds on the Borlis Pass server in Guild Wars 2.

What is the point of this council?

  1. Organization! This will allow guild leaders to quickly organize events. Rather than having 20 small little guild groups doing their own thing in WvW maps this function can quickly allow guild leaders to set rally points and gather up large numbers of players to assault specific objectives.
  2. Community! Creating a network of guild leaders will allow guilds to get to know each other and create the feeling that we’re all one cohesive entity on the server rather than a faction of fragmented guilds.
  3. Fun social events! The biggest draw of an MMO is the social aspect. The BPSC will allow the guilds to easily organize fun socials(like synchronized dance-offs), contests, and competitions.

Set a positive and friendly tone from the beginning.

People are social animals and tend to do what everyone else is doing. If we can set a very positive and community oriented tone from the beginning of the server through the BPSC then Borlis Pass will become known as the server with the most helpful and friendly players. Conversely if we don’t make an initiative to be positive and community oriented then Borlis Pass could very easily devolve down into the usual “Barrens Chat”.

How does my guild join the Borlis Pass Server Council?

Bookmark www.borlispass.com and when we get the council up and running information will be posted on there with how to join.

1.0.4 Monk Build for Farming Act 2 and 3 in Diablo 3

This build is designed to provide maximum AOE DPS so you can melt through mob packs while at the same time giving you a fair amount of survivability. Rather than using a traditional critical hit chance and critical hit damage build(which can be extremely expensive) I decided to instead stack mostly dexterity and then get a few pieces of cheaper critical hit gear.

Link to the build:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#afSgTh!XYW!YYcacc

Equipment Build

I’m running a one hander + shield. My build is balanced between attack speed and critical hit chance, I have 28.5% critical hit chance and my rings are +dexterity and +attack speed. Going for attack speed + dexterity on rings is the difference between paying 1 million gold for a ring and 20 million gold for a ring. Also my weapon has 720 dps, +300 dexterity and +700 life on hit but no critical hit damage and cost . This cost me only 2 million as opposed to 20 million+ you’d pay for a comparable weapon with critical hit chance.

My helm is socketed with a Ruby giving +25% experience(to help level Paragon levels faster). I also picked up magic find on gear when I could afford to giving me +115% unbuffed magic find.

How to play with this build

You’ll want to first ensure that Mantra of Evasion is up at all times. Secondly ensure Sweeping Wind is up. After that you’ll want to pull all enemies in to you with Cyclone Strike and then immediately use Seven-Sided Strike. With the Flminating Onslaught rune SSS does INCREDIBLE damage to closely grouped mobs. When mobs are close together this rune will make ALL the mobs take 1777% weapons damage.

Just keep popping SSS when it’s up and pulling in enemies close with cyclone strike.

The backlash rune on Mantra of Evasion coupled with the rune wall of wind for Cyclone Strike(20% dodge) and then high dex + sixth sense should give you roughly a 70% dodge rate. With that high of a dodge you’ll be CONSTANTLY proccing backlash, which coupled with sweeping wind and your primary attack outputs incredibly high AOE dps.

Guild Wars 2 Healthy Gamer Guild!

Come join me on Borlis Pass and play with other healthy gamers.

My intentions for the guild:

  • Build a positive community! That’s the number one goal. When you log on you’ll be greeted by your best friends, not a bunch of people you hate but have to put up with to beat bosses
  • Dominate PVP. Organization, co-ordination, and maturity wins in PvP every time. We’ll have our own vent and play organized PvP as often as there are enough people to do so.
  • Support each other to get off the game and reach our goals in real life. I’ll host tons of contests/competitions within the guild to help us all reach goals.

Requirements to join:

  • Mature
  • Positive
  • Friendly

Details:

The Server we are rolling on is Borlis Pass. I will post details of the guild name and my in game name at launch on the website, twitter, and facebook. So just start a character on Borlis Pass and start leveling and then send me a whisper in game to get an invite.

There won’t be any organized guild events at launch. I’m anticipating connection/lag issues and as such it would be a nightmare to try to get a bunch of people together(especially since everyone will be in different starter zones) so just do your own thing and level up. Feel free to organize little leveling parties within guild chat, but there won’t be any official guild launch events. A few days down the road I anticipate WvW and PvP parties forming up regularly.

Jack N. has graciously purchased a 96 man vent server for our guild. The vent information will be given out in-game and should be used by guild members only. Please don’t invite random people onto the vent.

Borlis Pass Server Council

This idea came from a youtuber named Kaeyi Dream. The Server Council will be a guild filled with the other guild leaders on Borlis Pass. This guild of guild leaders will be used to help organize and plan server wide events.

Youtubers Psychopoweranger and Matt Visual will be rolling on Borlis Pass as well and all of us are committed to building an incredibly strong community within the server. We will blot out the sun with youtube videos featuring Borlis Pass 🙂

The council will be an extremely efficient and effective organizational tool for the server. For example rather than 20 different guilds doing their own thing in WvW we can very quickly blast a message out to the guild leaders in this guild chat, see who is interested in running a larger WvW event, all organize and meet on the same location and then from there proceed to systematically take keeps. This level of organization will be extremely powerful in WvW.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for the power that this organization can bring to our server.

http://borlispass.com/ is the website I put up for our server. Go over and introduce yourself to the server! Can’t wait to see everyone in game!
