World of Tanks! A surprisingly addictive Tank battle game that’s part tank simulator and part counter-strike battleground. Play for FREE here: http://www.thehealthygamer.com/worldoftanks
What is World of Tanks?
In WoT you control a tank using WASD to move and mouse to aim and are on a team with other players. You go head to head against another similarly matched team that the matchmaker puts against you and then duke it out! You win the map by capturing all the objectives or destroying all the enemy tanks. Once you’re dead there is no respawn. The games are fast(usually lasting less than 10 minutes).
There is a meta game that allows you to research new tanks and new components for your tanks, and you can upgrade your tanks with new weapons, armor, engines, radios, and a slew of consumables(like repair kits).
The new player tutorial does a wonderful job of introducing you to the different systems of the game.
World of Tanks Gameplay
World of Tanks gets a lot of things right. It has almost the perfect blend of simulation and fast paced action. If you ignore cover, ignore teamwork, and ignore your flanks then you’ll be demolished everytime. However the simulation aspect of the game is not so overbearing that it makes the gameplay feel sluggish and frustrating. There’s just enough realism to make you slow down and carefully consider your plan of attack, and that makes for some very engaging and interesting gameplay.
Different tanks have different styles of play. Some heavier tanks with big guns are best camped out behind cover with a wide field of view. Other smaller/faster tanks are great for getting in behind the enemy’s lines and wreaking havoc from their unguarded flanks.
Controls feel tight and responsive and I never encountered any lag during my games.
Overall it’s a great game that you can pick up and play without needing to invest a bunch of time or money to be good at. Here’s the link to sign up to the game again, http://www.thehealthygamer.com/worldoftanks
