I’ve been mostly doing Act 3 since 1.0.3 came out but decided to go back to Act 2 and try farming it. And I’ll tell ya what, I’m sold.
Advantages of farming in Act 2
You kill shit faster! WAY faster! And you die less. So overall you’re looking at a much faster run, thus killing more elites with 5 stacks of nephalem valor, thus getting more drops, which IMO gets you better chances at good loot because you’re simply killing way more things.
How do do it
Start in Act 2, quest 8, the questline that will have you kill Zoltun Kulle at the end.
Go to the sewers of caldeum waypoint and kill the two elite packs in the sewers. Port back to town and then take the waypoint to Black Canyon Mines. In black canyon mines you’ll want to go southwest, across the bridge and make a big circuit around the entire bottom, come around up top and clear north. You should find 3-6 elite packs here.
After you have cleared that zone port back to town and take the waypoint to Desolate sands. Again just clear around the entire zone in a big circle. You should find three caves here packed with elites, and between 4-6 elite packs just in the desolate sands zone itself. Once you’ve cleared all three caves go ahead and go north to the Archives of Zultun Kulle.
In the Archives just follow the quest and clear all three zones, you should find another 10-15 elite packs in these zones, then kill Zultun Kulle.
After killing Kulle you can kill Belial if you’d like for some extra loot. Depending on your luck you can encounter anywhere from 25 to 40 elite packs through this run, getting you a really high chance to find some decent rares.
